Abstract - Strategies and Directions in the Struggle against the Threats to Contemporary Civilisation
The work presents the main directions and strategies of the actions aiming at the defence of contemporary civilisation against its most serious threats; the threats which are absolutely real. The actions comprise: 1) appeals and encouragements made by scholars, cultural animators, politicians and religious institutions to change the overall and the very evil - as it might seem – direction in which the civilisation is moving; these changes are initialled by a "brainstorm."; 2) moral and ideological contestation against negative (social, cultural, ecological etc.) outcomes of scientific and technological civilisation as well as globalisation, the contestation made mostly in an anti-globalistic movement; 3) efforts aiming at the elevation of moral culture of contemporary man, mainly by means of creation and popularisation of new systems of global and universal ethics as well as by appealing to the classical ethnic heritage of humanity; 4) a concept of a thorough and overall civilisational transformation, mainly by means of exchanging a capitalistic system into an alternative post-capitalistic system. The main thesis of the article is the idea that without a thorough "reform", a qualitative change – both in economic and social spheres, both in cultural and spiritual ones – of the scientific and technological civilisation, it cannot be saved from its imminent fall.
