Abstract - Selected coefficents of development and physical efficiency of the people practising judo and aikido

Introduction. Far-eastern martial arts are a part of global culture today and they are practiced for various purposes. The control over the training process should become a permanent element as well as it should influence health and fitness of the practicioners.
Material and methods. The research has been conducted of the sample group of 90 people training judo aikido. They have been practicing it for 4 to 6 years being at the age of 16 to 18. The method of evaluating fitness has been the International Test of Physical Fitness (ITPF), diagnostic survey and evaluation of paraeters of the height and weight of the body.
Results. The results of the research prove that both the aikido martial art training and the sporting judo training contribute to the high level of physical fitness. Better results have occured in case of judo practicioners than in case of aikido practicioners both in every trial and generally.
Conclusions. Long-lasting scientific research and everyday observations confirm that training cotributies to the improvement of the physical fitness level and it influences positively the biological development by stimulating it.
Systematic sport training in case of judo and recreational practice of aikido influenced the significanty higher lever of physical fitness that it results from the research on the all-Polish population.
