Abstract - On Budo pedagogics
The authors of article evaluate a new book published and edited by Jörg-Michael Wolters and Albert Fussmann titled "Budo-Pedagogics. Martial Arts in Education, Therapy and Coaching". This kind of pedagogics has been practised for ten years at Dr. Wolters Institute.
The authors believe it is wrong to associate the martial arts nowadays practised in the West only with Buddhism and to identify Budo spirituality with Zen meditation. They point out that serious doubts emerge as to whether education through martial arts is in any way connected with Zen practice.
Moreover, its interesting content as well as its cognitive and applicational qualities render the book valuable for humanistic research in the field of martial arts and combat sports, for physical recreation theory as well as for health education and sport pedagogics.
