Abstract - Ecological education through the ways of martial arts

Objectives and approach of the study is explication of the ecological dimension in the martial arts educational system. Methods include analysis of the subjects’ literature and system debate from the humanistic martial arts theory perspective. Results and conclusions: The different axio-normative systems make up the basis for pedagogy of the Far Eastern martial arts. Ecofeminism is derived from Chinese Taoism and Buddhism, while the ecological era is predicted to be coming in the nearest future. The anthropocentrism of hierarchic culture is replaced with ecocentrism – fashionable in New Age and the eastern wisdom and love of life (the biosophy) is to replace the intellectual property of the West. However, putting aside the extreme ideological positions we can affirm that (all in all) the ways of martial arts as ways of non-aggression, psychophysical and moral improvements, serve the idea of the ecological education well. Physical health and internal harmony favour friendly relations with nature, even when the philosophical and ethical reasons of respect for every creation and life are omitted.
